FSB launches a SPAM-war against Kavkaz Center

Publication time: 18 October 2005, 00:42

A few days ago, a real spam-war was launched against Kavkaz Center. Russian special services, the so-called division "T" of FSB of the Russian Federation (the employees of this division working under cover of independent hackers, to be exact), starting sending spam as though it was being sent from KC, stuffing the mail boxes of users with 30-50 letters per day. These emails invited readers to visit a page of KC "to learn the truth about events in Nalchik." This spam is going out only to English-speaking users.

The purpose of this FSB provocation is an attempt to get people angry enough to address complaints to KC, causing possible blockage of the server of KC. Such complaints really do come to the Swedish provider.

Kavkaz Center editorial staff has already informed the provider about the existing situation. The management of the provider company is aware of the provocation of FSB and, at the present time, is studying the situation and is trying to find a way to advise the addressees of the true source of this spam.

Besides, Kavkaz Center has received a letter, threatening further DOS attacks and deliberate mailing of more spam with the purpose of discrediting the KC. In the letter, signed by a certain "hacker" from FSB Samuel (Samuel, e-mail: line58@Gmail.com, IP 71.128.7.46) in particular, states, "We have closed your PayPal account because of sending so many fraudulent accounts. The best spammers of Russian work on us. On Monday your site’s name will appear on a blacklist of spam dot..."

Thus, Samuel for fastening a legend of FSB suggests Kavkaz Center to pay 100 000 US dollars in order for attacks to the site to stop.

"The amount of 100 000 doll. is possible for you to pay. Ben Laden will not be poor."

In another letter, signed by "Misha” (Misha IP 67.22.17.102), threatening cyber attacks, not only against a KC, but also against government centers of Sweden and Lithuania. Here FSB is acting in the role of the organizer and the ideological curator of the action against KC, states:

"Hackers, spammers, fishers and karders, along with the majority of us have already been on the opposite side of the law, for a long time. But it doesn't prevent us from being patriots who stand up for world peace. We will use our best efforts not to allow the propagation of an extremist outlook in our world, the world of the Internet. Today, at the beginning of a large-scale operation, we have invested a hundred thousand dollars of our personal means in the purchase of special equipment to resist terrorism on the Internet, have developed a general policy of struggle and have selected a uniform management team.

At the present time, our efforts have resulted in closing a forum of Kavkaz Center portal and closing the fund raising account system of the USA (which for unclear reasons did not react in any way, thereby sponsoring terrorist activities officially thought heir payment systems). It's only the beginning of a long war!

In the event that the KC hosting is not given up in the near future, we plan to undertake harsh attacks against the hosting providers, who support KC, and later on against other vital units of a network of Internet and governmental sites of the courtiers, which are hosting KC. For today it is Sweden and Lithuania.”

This text is spreading to various forums of Runet. As we are seeing, threats of FSB to Sweden, Lithuania, and Kavkaz Center are quite real. And, although the forum of KC has been closed for about a year for absolutely other reasons, and "Misha" from FSB has no relationship to it, KC’s account at PayPal has been closed because numerous remittances to its account have been made with stolen bank credit cards. At the present time, PayPal is investigating the situation.

It is well known that Russia is recognized by the international center of bank card thieves, and that they swindle people with accounts, therefore KC edition supposes that the letters that were sent to KC were instigated by the executors engaged in this criminal activity under the roof of the management "T" of FSB of RF.

In view of the above, the administration of KC repeats that has no connection with the spreading of spam on the Internet. KC administration maintains that FSB is behind this activity. FSB continues to be engaged in international cyber terrorism and threatens the sovereignty and security of Sweden and Lithuania.
