Jihad in Eastern Turkestan Documented on Video

A 32:28 minute video featuring call for Jihad in Eastern Turkestan was issued on Tuesday, November 7, 2006, by the al-Fajr Information Center. Al-Fajr, an Internet information committee, is one of the primary distributors of communications for Mujahideen groups, including those in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Algeria. Eastern Turkestan, or Xinjiang, lies in the northwest corner of China, and the region has been mired in conflict for centuries with clashing Muslim and Chinese invaders. The video includes a brief history of this Jihad, in additional to listing geographical and demographical information about the area, and examples of the tyranny perpetrated by the Chinese communist regime, the SIE Institute reported.

 Muslims are reminded of what is being committed against Islam by the ruling regime, and local Chinese leaders, specifically Wang Lequan. Public announcements of Islam as unlawful, a "religion of narcotics," and imbuing Muslim youth with communist ideology are among the actions the video highlights.

The Mujahideen speaking remind the Muslims of the obligation of Jihad for the Cause of Allah, and glorify those who participate and provide support within their money and souls. They state : "This Communist Chinese government spoiled our religion and they are spoiling us and our children. How can we protect our children who are brought up with their rules and way of living?", and: "My brother Muslims in Eastern Turkestan, the Communist Chinese government tries to drive you from your religion. What are you doing? You are doing nothing. Prepare yourself for Jihad against the infidels".

Jihad preparation, including firearm training, is shown amid the speeches, as a voice explains: "My brothers the Muslims, all of their operations which you see about Jihad are not more than the fruit of training and having preparedness". The video concludes with a list of statements from Wang Lequan, the Eastern Turkestan, or Xinjiang Occupation Committee Secretary, in which he  said that all the "fanatic" Muslims in Eastern Turkestan must be eliminated for the Chinese to control the region
