The FBI is joining the British probe into the poisoning death of a Kremlin critic, the agency announced Thursday as investigators found traces of radiation at a dozen sites in Britain.
British authorities requested the involvement of the FBI, agency spokesman Richard Kolko said. FBI experts in weapons of mass destruction will assist with some of the scientific analysis, he said.
Meanwhile, Russians claim their former prime-minister, a certain Gaidar, has been poisoned during breakfast in a cantina in Ireland. Chechen analysts from the Chechenpress news agency say it an old trick of the FBI to divert attention from the FSB poisoning of Mr Litvivenko in London. The "poisoners", if they were real, had much more opportunity to murder Mr Gaidar in Moscow. And the FSB chose Ireland for its comedy "poisoning" specifically to attract attention of Western media. Meanwhile, the actor, Mr Gaidar, is far from dying and is "recovering". Real FSB murderers kill for certain, like in the cases of Mr Litvinenko in London and an American reporter in Moscow, analysts said.
